ReInventing with Design 17-19th June 2009 – Hong Kong
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009Eco-design is on top of the agenda in Hong Kong and China, especially in current economic climate. The ReInventing with Design event in Hong Kong 17-19th June major focus is on the Pearl River Delta and the problems companies are having. Particularly small and medium companies, in coping with the economic problems of the current financial collapse – generally known to as the “finacial tsunami” in that part of the world.
Rob Holdway from Giraffe has been asked to talk at this event and to run a workshop, here comes a summary of what it will entitle. Rob’s talk is called ‘Design for a one planet economy’ – “the current economic turmoil and increasing market uncertainty means running an efficient business has never been more important. Being Lean and Green are inextricably linked business principles. More than this, considering the environment impact of products and services from the outset of the design process is central to achieving downstream commercial success”. Rob’s workshop title is ‘Towards a new creative synthesis: Design within the context of sustainability’. “There is a tendency to stick to the same old solutions and to what you know – for the obvious reason it is hard to stick to what you don’t know. Creativity tools act as a catalyst to new combinations and connections”. Rob will be using Giraffe’s eco-dice techniques for the workshop session.
